About Duperon

Overview

Duperon Corporation builds mechanically cleaned bar screens for wastewater treatment plants, along with washing, compacting and conveying equipment, at its 70,000 square-foot facility in Saginaw, Michigan. The company traces its roots to the late 1970s, when founder Terry Duperon set out to protect stormwater pumps from debris; the Self-Cleaning Trashrack that resulted replaced manually cleaned bar screens, and Duperon was founded in 1985 as a privately held, family-owned business. FlexRake technology entered wastewater service in 1995, and its ability to adapt to changing debris conditions has driven the company’s growth since.

The FlexRake line runs from coarse screens with openings up to 4 inches (FP, FRHD and the FRO rake-only retrofit for existing bar racks) through fine screens down to 0.020 inch (FPFS, FS and the pipe-to-pipe FSB) to the GTS, IQ and IQ2 for low-flow, high-solids and variable-flow duty. All share the front-clean, front-return FlexLink design, which has no submerged sprockets, bearings or tracks and is serviced entirely from the deck; the FP and FPFS platforms carry a five-year warranty in wastewater applications. The City of Adrian’s FlexRake marked 20 years of continuous, trouble-free operation in 2018. Duperon describes itself as the leader in simple, adaptive screening technologies for coarse, fine, low-flow and ultra screening.

Yes. Duperon manufactures in Saginaw, Michigan. For projects funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), Drinking Water SRF, or any federal infrastructure dollars subject to Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements, Duperon can provide the documentation your engineer needs to certify domestic content. This matters more every year as more TX municipal projects pull from federal funding sources. Vision Equipment can request a current BABA compliance letter for any specific project on request.

Yes – that’s the headline feature. All routine maintenance (rake inspection, scraper replacement, drive service) happens at deck level. There are no submerged bearings or sprockets to rebuild from below the waterline. For plants where confined-space entries are a recurring O&M cost (permit time, attendant labor, OSHA exposure), this alone usually justifies the upgrade math.

The FlexRake delivers wet screenings to a chute or conveyor; the washer/compactor takes that material, washes the organics back into the flow stream, and squeezes water out before discharging into your dumpster. Result: lower haul weight, lower disposal cost, and a dumpster that doesn’t reek. For plants paying by the ton on screenings disposal – or fielding odor complaints from neighbors – this is usually where the operating cost savings show up on the spreadsheet.
